  • MPPA Petitions Department of Labor Relations to Exercise Jurisdiction Over Negotiations
    Posted On: Jun 30, 2016
The members Medford Police Patrolmen's Association are now working without a contract for one year as of today. The MPPA has petitioned the Department of Labor Relations to assume jurisdiction over the current negotiations with the City.  A tentative date of July 16th has been set for mediation.  The Union is disappointed that the City's current administration has not been able to reach a contract settlement with the MPPA. The MPPA has always maintained the belief that the best contract settlement is a negotiated settlement. As of right now the Union has NO CONFIDENCE in the City's current administration's ability to make that happen. This is truly disappointing after the amount of so called big labor support the current administration enjoyed during last year's election.

The members of the MPPA will continue to serve the citizens Medford despite the City's inability to treat it's police officers fairly. There is much expected from today's police officers and the MPPA membership has met those expectations despite a lack of support from politicians at the highest level of our government and the media.

While it's easy to overlook the City's shortcomings when it comes to equipment, training, and working environment we expect the City to recognize what we do and treat us accordingly.

We thank the Citizens of Medford for their continued support.
